The Great New Yorker Legacy
The new Yorker was first debuted on February 21 ,1925. The New Yorker started off as only a weekly newspaper that was founded by Harold Ross and his wife, Jane Grant. The first offices built for the New Yorker were in Manhattan on 25 West 45th Street. At the time all the magazines portrayed a very dull type of humor. Harold wanted to make a magazine that really made people express their laughter in a sophisticated way. In fact, the cosmopolitan sophistication it had really made it stick out from the other competitors. The Publication of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" drew more mail than any other story in the magazine's history.
